On February 18, twelve delegates went to Madison for State Advocacy Day. There were delegates from Chippewa, Eau Claire, Stevens Point, Fox Cities, and Door County. In the morning, the delegates sat in a conference room and listened in on what the Y has been doing recently. They met with Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes and Senate President Roger Roth. At one point the delegates talked to the Y employees about how much YIG means to them. In the latter half of the day, the delegates split up with in order to go and talk to their representatives. During that time the delegates could talk about the issues they wanted to bring up or sit and listen as they were with Y employees who had their topic points. Some of the representatives the delegates met with were Jody Emerson, Jeff Smith, Rob Summerfield, and Jesse James. State Advocacy day is a great experience to go to and have the chance to talk to your representatives.
