Wausau PreGov

This year, PreGov was successful for all of the program areas. PreGov this year was at Westwood Conference Center in Wausau. There have been people who were elected for higher authority in the Media, Supreme Court, and Legislative program areas. The legislative delegates presented their bills in committees. Media delegates worked on brainstorming and discussion on articles and new ideas.

The room that was used at the beginning of PreGov

At the beginning of PreGov, there was a time where everybody received their schedules and where they should go after the beginning session. The first breakup was sorted through Toy Story characters to meet other delegates and do some activities to get to know each other better and make new friends. Following that, the delegates came together within their program areas. That time was filled with work time and presenting bills, ideas, and articles, and with a bit of fun in between learning sessions.

After work, there was lunch, which was hotdogs this year. Closely subsequent lunch, everyone was told about each locating a partner who never talked to each other that day and would create a lunch bag for hungry people. The bags were decorated beautifully, but that didn’t last for long, and we went to work on whatever we were assigned to do.

The last gathering was by grade, 7th-12th grades were split up for a breakout and were asked a specific question, for example: if you had an animal for a sidekick, what would it be? In each room, everyone talked about their bills/articles/what they did that day.

Wrapping up PreGov, delegates made their way to the conference room where they stayed in at the opening session. There were two guest speakers, who talked about journaling and writing about the latest news about a crime, or a problem and to raise awareness on.

After a long day of work, everyone was dismissed, and probably glad to take in the fresh cold air of Wausau and ride safely home.
