This past year, many of our minds were occupied by the 2020 Presidential Election. The candidates, Democratic Nominee Joe Biden and Republican President Donald Trump came together for their first presidential debate in September. There was much conflict, as expected, with the dodging of questions and constant interruptions from both parties, making the viewing very frustrating. The moderator, Chris Wallace, seemed to be on about the same level as the rest of America, trying and trying again to keep the debate civil and give each of the candidates equal time. After the debate, there was discussion of changing the rules of the debate so the moderator could turn off the candidates’ mics so each could get a fair time.
The debates continued in this way of banter, getting exceedingly frustrating. Despite this, the votes poured in. Whether it was by mail-in or poll, Americans were voting. Many celebrities encouraged voting by posting pictures or videos of themselves submitting votes. Then came Election Day. Americans all waited anxiously for the news, watching as each state announced the predicted winner, whether red or blue. Days went by and there was still no winner. States that were previously red turned blue. At last, Americans were waiting for just a few states. Georgia, after being a red state for the last 24 years, voted blue by just .2%. The votes were finally in, Democratic Nominee Joe Biden was the new President-Elect.
This election was a nerve-racking one, especially with all of the tension due to the pandemic. America made it through and we now begin a new presidency. We’ll just have to wait and see what
