Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers is the best candidate for MVP this NFL season–let me tell you why.
Not only does his name do the talking for him, but he is able to defend it with masterful execution on game days. He is tied at 5 interceptions for the fewest interceptions in a single season, he is first in the amount of touchdowns scored in a single season with 48, he is first out of all the quarterbacks in the league for his quarterback rating at 119.4, and he is seventh in the league for total yards in a single season at 4,299. During the Packers’ Week 17 game against the Chicago Bears, Rodgers completed 19 out of the 24 passes and scored 4 touchdowns which aided the team in its 35-16 victory over the Bears. With this past win, not only did Rodgers aid the team in another “W” in the book and improve the team’s record to 13-3, but he led them to being the NFC’s Champions and clinching a first week bye in the Playoffs, as well as home field advantage. If his statistics from this season don’t jump out as “MVP quality,” I’m not sure what will.
Of course, there are other outstanding players in the run for this coveted title as well such as Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. Mahomes is the reigning king of this title, and has worked hard all season to keep it that way. Mahomes has led the Chiefs to their own title, AFC Champions, as well as individually performing at a first-rate level. Rodgers and Mahomes have been neck-in-neck throughout the season in this MVP race, but Rodgers is slowly, but surely, pulling away from Mahomes. This MVP race will be determined week by week, but I believe that Aaron Rodgers will win this intense MVP race.
