Madison’s legacy consists of hundreds—potentially thousands—of political and cultural movements each year. There is always something going down and getting done. Here is a guide to current events in Wisconsin’s capitol.
Governor Tony Evers has been busy at work. Recently, he signed six bills addressing penalties for grooming children. Evers said, “Defining grooming is a critical step to give law enforcement and local school districts the tools they need to hold bad actors accountable for hurting our kids,” which sets a spotlight on motives behind these new bills. These bills had first been suggested in 2025, but have only been officially passed this last week.
The Henry Vilas Zoo’s director retired after fifteen years in her position. Known for her dedication to zoos, Ronda Schwetz spent thirty-three years in zoology. Fifteen of them, she has been directing the beloved zoo in Madison. Now, Henry Vilas Zoo is searching the nation in hopes of finding a new director.
On March 5th, Operation Fresh hosted its second annual Women In Construction Week Career Fair. It was a free event that allowed women to attend and find career pathways and apprenticeships. Thirty employers showed up to offer opportunities to those interested.
Upcoming events are just as important, if not more! Involvement is important, so here are some events taking place very soon.
The Maple Syrup Fest is an event for education purposes. Here, people tap trees and learn how maple syrup is made. The event takes place on March fourteenth from one to four p.m.
At High Noon Saloon, a band called Saturdays At Your Place will be performing. They are considered an emo band. They will be playing on March tenth at six-thirty pm. Many bands are known for coming to Madison every single day, performing from all ends of the city from sunrise to sunset.
Overall, staying involved in the community’s events is a great way of creating solidarity among neighbors and developing new friendships. Numerous events can be discovered all over the map, but especially in places like Madison. If you’re looking for a good time, check some out!
