Media Director – Annika Larsen is the 2022-23 Media Director for Wisconsin Youth in Government. She is a sophomore at Appleton North High school and she is in the Fox Cities Delegation. This is her third year in YIG and the media branch. In her free time, she enjoys writing, listening to music, and playing her cello. Her favorite thing about YIG is the community- she loves how easy it is to make friends and how welcoming everyone is! She is so excited for the 2023 Model Government session and can’t wait to see you there!

Assistant Media Director: Video – Elora Wilson is a freshman at Kimberly High School, and this is her 2nd year in the Fox Cities delegation. Her favorite things about YIG are the people and the environment that is created within Wisconsin YIG. What she likes about journalism is being able to hear other people’s opinions, ideas, and stories. In her free time, she plays lacrosse and volleyball. She also likes to read, listen to music, and watch hockey (her favorite team is the Montreal Canadians). A fun fact about her is that she wants to major in environmental science or wildlife biology in college.

Luckson Ballard is a freshman at Fond du Lac High School and is a member of the Fond du Lac delegation. This is his first year in Youth in Government. He plays soccer, studies other languages, and volunteers in his community.

Isabelle Berg is in the Fond Du Lac delegation and is in 9th grade. This is her first year in YIG and is excited to experience what YIG has to offer. Some things she does in her freetime is reading, baking, dance, and spending time with family and friends.

JJ Butler is a Sophomore and is home-schooled, his delegation is Green Bay and this is his second year in YIG. When he isn’t working on articles and videos for YIG he enjoys listening to music, swimming and playing Minecraft. His favorite memory from YIG last year was when one of his delegation members started doing the worm at karaoke.

Marialys Garza  is a senior at Notre Dame Academy. She is from the Green Bay delegation, this is her first year in the program. In her free time, she likes to run, listen to music and spend time with her friends. Something Marialys enjoys about writing is that you can express what you want in words instead of saying it out loud and be creative in the writing world. Before she was introduced to YIG she had no idea what it was about, Marialys felt very welcomed and advisors explained to her what YIG was. It sounded like a fun experience and now she is excited and looking forward to being in Madison for the first time and being a part of YIG.

Brittany Lewin is from the Manitowoc delegation, from Two Rivers. She is a freshman at the Two Rivers High School. Brittany has been in YIG for two years, this year being the second, and in both she has done media. The thing she enjoys about YIG is that she gets to meet new people and expand her comfort zone; she struggles with trying speak to people. Brittany likes to do traditional art and game in her free time. She likes to draw realistically, using different pictures of anything she just feels like drawing. The games she likes are calm, adventure games like Slime Rancher. Brittany likes writing because she feels like it is a way of helping her speak her mind, but through an article, and in a way people also get informed about said topic. But she also likes how she can use big words, it makes her smile. There is a variety of things Brittany likes to do, but she won’t go into detail unless asked. 🙂

Lauren Meacham is a freshman at Sturgeon Bay High School and part of the Door County Delegation. This is her first year in Youth in Government. She enjoys learning about how the United States government functions. In her free time, she enjoys reading novels, writing, and playing golf. She likes journalism because she is able to write and allow other people to be represented.

Sofia Sepulveda is an 8th grade student at St. Thomas More. This is her first year in the YIG program. She is excited to experience new things and she is looking forward to meeting new people and experiencing the program. Sofia thinks YIG will help her as she gets older and give her more opportunities in life. Sofia is part of the media team. She plays volleyball and soccer and loves to listen to music. Sofia used to play in percussion for about a year and a half.

Aliyah Thompson is a 9th grader from Fond Du Lac high school. She is in the Fond Du Lac delegation. This is her 1st year of Youth In Government. She is a freshman representative in her delegation. In her free time, Aliyah likes to play the piano, various percussion instruments, and do crafts. She also enjoys playing with her rabbit named Basil, and her cat named Toby.

Killian Winkel is in 9th grade and is home schooled. He is in Media and this is his second year in YIG. Killian’s favorite part of YIG is seeing everything work seamlessly at Model Government. He likes to make spray paint planets, skateboarding, and Blacksmithing.
