Alex Reis graduated in 2015 which ended his time as a student in the Fox Cities delegation. His love for the program brought him back to the program as a college advisor. When asked to talk about his experiences in YIG he said:
“So, I was in the program eighth grade and then I took a year off my freshman year of high school because I thought high school was going to be hard and I was doing multiple sports so I took a year off and then I got right back into it sophomore year through senior year. When I was a student I really was all in, I was the president of my delegation, I was part of a team that kinda brought Fox Cities to the higher population of students that it is now within YIG now which is really cool to see. As I’ve been a CA in college I’ve sadly seen a lot of my people from my year leave, I’m pretty sure I’m the oldest CA this year, you might have to fact check that but I am 23, I graduated in 2015 so 5 years removed from the program now and I do miss it. It wasn’t until my junior year of college that I found a program that was kinda nonpartisan and focused on ideas in the same way that YIG did and I’m hoping that I can talk a few seniors who are planning to go to Madison next fall into maybe joining that program but I’m still just happy to be here and engaged with young students and show people the way and give inspiration and this is my first year working with press corps so this has definitely been a learning curve for me.” (January 26, 2020)
