By Sofia Sepulveda, Green Bay
My name is Sofia. I go to St. Thomas More school in the Green Bay area. I was first introduced to the YMCA by the Y achievers in 7th grade. It continued to my eighth grade year. My fellow classmates and I got an opportunity to join YIG. I was interested in the program because it was something different and exciting. Some of my classmates and I would attend a YIG class once a week. In each class, we were taught many different things about political roles. This helped us discover how it really was and created a new passion of mine. Learning new things, especially getting to experience it firsthand, is amazing. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to attend the Madison YIG trip. This will help me see many new things and help my future. The YMCA has given me and many others great things. The YMCA is a caring and supportive community. Both Y achievers and YIG have shown me many new things, stuff that I would have never thought I would have the chance to experience. I’m glad that I got this amazing opportunity.
